Idris Busari: I don't know if you know how artistes in the US get their music to the networks, I have been researching that for a while now and haven't found one beside youtube. Any advice on this process will be great Robb.

ME: Networks don't currently search for artist music videos anymore, due to the lack of exclusivity, thus the reason why MTV switched their programming. Build a following using the abundant resources available and they'll come to YOU! Don't chase them when you're getting less than a million views per video. Grow your audience and then doors automatically open like the grocery store!

This morning a cable station contacted me requesting an interview about my contribution to the comic-book industry due, in part, to "ROBERT CONTE: THE COMIC-BOOK LEGEND" on YouTube. I'm told it has almost 250 views!

I initially wanted to have you and Charlton involved in this project if it was possible. Unfortunately, the company that will conduct the interview feels its best that you, in particular, are not involved.

During my conversation with this channel, it was brought to my attention some posts you placed online citing me as "unprofessional" and actually went so far as to call me a "prick." They sent me the link and I just read it. The word "shocked" is an understatement!

Such posts do nothing but demonstrate your immaturity and unprofessionalism. As you will learn in life, things happen and, sometimes, people are inconvenienced. You were provided an apology for me being unable to attend that short meeting and you react with a web blast against me?

Based on your actions above, and your failure to fulfill your end of the signed agreement by providing me the raw footage shot in my store, I am going to work with another company on my auto-biography film. I am open to involving Charlton as he was very kind throughout the process. I have copied him on this message so he understands why I have made the decision I have.

IDIOTS WITH COMICS

There was (not sure if they still exist) this comic book "club" that I decided to check out a while back based on a recommendation from Chuck. Anyway, before I met the "leaders" (trust me, they're nowhere near that title), I tried to have a conversation with them online. I wanted to see if they showed any leadership qualities. The answer is no! They displayed tardy communication, lack of organizational skills, lack of basic business skills, and an incredibly poor work ethic. #Robbisthetruth

Anyway, I went to the meeting and to my surprise, they displayed an even worse personality in person. Take everything I said above times 100......times 1000……times 1,000,000. One of the "leaders" showed up like an hour late. The so called MC couldn't operate a simple podcast. (I guess we know who rode the short bus to school.) It was horrendous just watching the circus explode with three sticks of dynamite. #Robbtastic

Anyway, I have to cut this short. I don't want to waste too much time on these idiots. We (Chuck and I) met Robert Conte there and we did a project with him. (Watch it on robbent.com.) They did absolutely nothing in working with us directly on our project. They saw the completed project and for some reason expected something for it. You guys won't get dick! "We have no interest in filmmaking." So, why the fuck you guys suddenly want credit for our work then? #Robbismean

THE FINAL EMAIL TO CHARLTON RUDDOCK

Since this is my final email to you, I might as well put all the cards on the table.

I believe in loyalty, dedication, and integrity. These are characteristics in which you lack.

You displayed disloyalty when you decided to do the Ethan shoot after I had left. I was looking out for all of us, but I guess you had your agenda, just like how you stated you'll be the sound guy on Ethan's films to recruit people. Yeah! I believed that.

You claim to be dedicated to this industry but all signs point to the contrary. You have all these connections (most are unreliable, but nonetheless), but you've helmed only one short film and one commercial. What's that about? Also, like I said before, why didn't you just produce and direct a couple short films instead of using that money going to seminars and workshops? Wouldn't having actual work be better than telling someone you went to a workshop or seminar? That whole situation just boggles my mind.

You compromised your integrity because you didn't want to leave a "bad taste" in scumbag Robert's mouth. You probably did that because you think that's the path to success. Compromising your integrity is never worth it. I would rather be brutally honest, like how I usually am, and have people hate me, than pretend like everything is ok for the sake of a project. Don't compromise your integrity.... for anyone. And this is what I learned from being around and listening to people who have achieved enormous success in this business.

I setup your website, gave you two directing projects, countless industry information, bolster your IMDB credentials with credits, and created a production company logo for you, and still, it seems like I've done nothing. The whole screenplays fiasco aside, it's pretty clear that you never respected me as a filmmaker, I've known that since day one but since this is a business, I don't care. I know I'm very talented, and way more dedicated than most of the people that want to be in this industry.

Anyway, I sincerely hope your buddy and role model Ethan will make something of your screenplays.

MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE FILM INDUSTRY

1). YOU HAVE TO BE FRIENDS WITH EVERYONE!
Nothing can be further from the truth. Networking is cool and all, but if you're networking with people who are incompetent and/or treat this industry as a hobby or side gig, then you're wasting your time. Think about it this way: you have a finite rolodex. That way you'll be very selective about who goes in it.

2). YOU HAVE TO PUT UP WITH SHIT TO MAKE IT!
That's what I was told as a PA on an indie film set. I quit the next day! Treating people like shit because it's an industry "ritual" is just not going to work for me. It's absolutely ludicrous. You can be firm and professional and people will respect you. There is no need to scream at people and push them around. If the person is incompetent, then fire them in a professional manner, and avoid making the same mistake twice. Simple!

3). YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD TO MAKE IT!
I've worked on pictures pulling 16-18 hour days. Am I exhausted afterwards? Yep! Do I get frustrated when I have to watch the director do a thirtieth take because he doesn't know what the hell he's doing? Yep! Do I have to deal with overpriced yet under-talented film school students? Yep! Even with all that, the term "hard work" rarely applies to this industry. I know kids that have to get up at the crack of dawn to work on farms, walk miles to get water for their families, and other HARD WORK! The film industry is mostly based on nepotism and who you know. I would never say it's based on hard work!

4). IT LOOKS EASY ENOUGH. I WANT TO DO IT!
Most people I come across want to be in the film industry for the wrong reasons. I love movies! I have ideas! I've always been told I look like an actor! It looks fun! Directing is common sense! And the bullshit responses go on and on. I usually want to end the conversation immediately after I get one of these responses, and this is why: this industry is not "easy." It's not hard work in the context of what I've stated above, but it's definitely not an easy path. This is one of the few industries where some of the most talented people are out of work. What does that say about your chances, newcomer? This is my advice to you; sit down and evaluate why a career in filmmaking is for you. Again, no bullshit responses! You can just as easily find countless other "easy" things to do, and you can watch countless movies. Look at that, you're still a part of the industry.

5). THIS IS THE PATH TO SUCCESS!
There is no "path" to success. There is no special road to follow. Some people start at the very top (usually with money and/or nepotism), and some people start at the very bottom (usually out of necessity). You can start in one area and end up in a different one. i.e. Going from the production side to the distribution side. You can start as a production assistant or a studio executive. Again, there is no path to success in this industry. Be your own navigator, and chart your own path.

Saaid is an aspiring something (I have no idea what he wants to do) in the film industry. First he said producing, then he said directing, then he might as well tell me he wants to be a studio executive because after our entire conversation, this guy had no idea why he wants to be in the film industry. ME: You are new to this. You might want to avoid repeating the statements in your latest email. You don't start as a producer because you're "new" to filmmaking. Producing is by far one of the most stressful jobs in the business. Different personalities clashing, financing, etc. And directing is definitely not "common sense." Like I said, you might want to avoid repeating those statements to people who work in the industry. People new to filmmaking start as a PA, not a producer. That would be starting at the top which doesn't really work in this business. Now I'm so so glad I asked that question.

SAAID M. SABET: by "common sense." I meant being in touch, have an eye for reality, and I think I am pretty good at that. Directing is to make sure movements(acting), and gesture are as real as possible, and I think I am good at that!

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but, and this is for anyone who is an aspiring "filmmaker", if you think that you have to be in the film industry because you love movies, sit down and really think it through. It's like walking down Times Square and seeing a guy toss fire sticks in the air and you become fascinated and want to do it because he makes it look easy. The guy probably took months preparing that act, and so is the process of making a film, only longer. It's not all glamour and fame. Again, sit down and think about it.

ME: How long have you been practicing? And, what's the size of your firm? We're looking to add a legal rep to our team.

TRACY RANDALL: Attached is a little information about our firm/management/production company with that being said we are not just legal I would like to say that we are more of a business affairs company who happen to be attorneys. I have been practicing for 11 years but have been in the music/entertainment industry for over 20 years as a music promoter, recording artist, music publisher etc. We have a staff of 12 --- 4 attorneys and the rest are paraprofessionals, managers, publishers. We are a boutique firm and take on very few projects so that we are able to give clients the attention they deserve.

Theglobalpaper.com: Let's start at the beginning. What made you want to be a scientist in the first place?

Romane Orlando Robb: I was 13, filled with innocence. And now I'm much older and not so innocent. I aspired to be a scientist for the sole reason of saving the world. Naive but true. The irony is; I would see scientists in movies and say how cool they were. Little did I know, I would someday be the guy that hired people (actors) like those for my pictures.

Romane Orlando Robb: I bought my first camera off of eBay for $25.00 when I was 16. I didn't put it down for a week, if not more. I love it. I recorded everything with no interest in editing. And it recorded on VHS tapes which didn't matter to me then but looking at it now, what was I thinking?

Theglobalpaper.com: How did you transition for the kid with the VHS recorder to the "suit" managing film productions?

Romane Orlando Robb: I'm a businessman, first and foremost. I started a mini hedge fund in high school and became embolden with investing. Contrary to popular belief, I see the film industry as an investment. The bonus is that I'm also a very passionate filmmaker.

Romane Orlando Robb: I'm a very prompt communicator; dedicated to my craft, and highly conscientious. Talk about a resume pitch. I sometimes, most times, get pissed off when I'm communicating with someone who is tardy with their responses. I would tell them to never contact me again, or I just permanently block them. I despise people who are slow at communicating, especially in this day and age when we all walk around with mobile devices. If you contact me, in most cases, expect a reply in no time. And if I don't get the same prompt response from you, just F off. It's that simple!

Romane Orlando Robb: I’m a comic book (I guess the term is now “graphic novel”) writer, photographer, clothing designer (The Urban Blvd – theurbanblvd.com), portfolio manager and angel investor, and occasional music producer, among other things.

Romane Orlando Robb: World domination! But until then, I would like to dominate both the silver screen, like Jerry Bruckheimer, and the "small screen," like how Norman Lear did back in the 1970s. I'm working on a couple pilots and hoping something awesome happens. I'm also looking to expand Superbear Entertainment's (a commercial and music video production company) directors' roster. I would also like to produce some Broadway plays, Bollywood and Asian films. In other words; I want to be a very diversified producer.

ROBB, THE UNDERDOG

Everybody roots for the underdog....when he's close to the top. As a filmmaker with modest resources, I was well aware of my uphill battle in making pictures. But, the human psychology is such a magnificent thing. I've been shot down, ridiculed, demeaned, and etc, by a variety of people. But for some reason I still love this industry. I remember when the two douchebags kicked me off their project and how I vowed to get them back for their level of unprofessionalism. It turns out I was only wasting my own time. Time that I could've put into my other projects. I learned something from that experience: never let anyone take your talent(s) for granted. That's the biggest payback of all. I didn't do their project! They didn't get the opportunity to use my talents. And to the rest of you guys that turned down one of my pictures/projects; the underdog lives!

WAY TOO EARLY

As I sit around my computer at 12:23am on a Saturday, I'm thinking to myself; I have a better chance catching a cold than catching a break. My documentary is falling apart. The principal cast member is being a real asshole and on top of it, I'm thinking about her and that's really fucking with my thought process. Focus dude! Fucking focus!

I just told a friend of mine who possibly was trying to undermine my authority a couple things that I would possibly like to amend...not really.

"From now on I have no choice but to be a more fierce producer. So when I give out a role, I won't be challenged or questioned. You've never done that with them (Ethan Black and TJ Collins, my new favorite enemies, remember?) even though you were concerned that they might not give you credit. I deserve the same level of respect."

And am off to something else. Something along the lines of producing.

THE PRODUCER IS THE CEO

Let's emphasize the executive part. An executive, executes, right? It was Thomas Edison who said, "Vision without execution is hallucination." Mr. Edison was a bright man. (no pun intended.) The producer looks (or should look) at every film as a separate company; a new "start-up" if you will. And he/she should, because, in most cases, that's exactly what the process is like; building a start-up.

The producer can come up with the idea or option/acquire the material; the foundation. The producer then hires the key "employees" to help execute his/her vision. The writer (if the material is based on but not limited to; an idea or adaptation), director, DP, talent, etc.

After the producer let his/her "employees" do their job and get the film in the can, the producer still has a lot of work to do. The producer has to "sell" the product/service (the picture) to customers (the audience) through marketing. Here's an obvious statement; marketing can make or break a film. Remember, the producer is not just selling a film, he/she is "selling" a company. Is it a bust or a multi-billion dollar company? Your next CEO position depends on it.

Materialistic bullshit aside; my word and my balls are the only thing I truly own. Figuratively and literally speaking. And I don't "break" them for no one. Cue Mr. Montana!

I believe in loyalty. Thus the reason why I shout; FUCK FAKE FRIENDS! I'm anti-social by choice. I keep a very tight circle (dirty thoughts) of "associates." To use the term "friends" would imply that I'm friendly with them. Most people despise my honesty. But then again, I despise most people so we're even. (score one for Romane.) I always find it fascinating that some of the same people who wanted nothing to do with me before, but suddenly, as my status starts to escalate upwards, they're the first to give me kudos and congratulations. With that, I officially say: FUCK YOUR CONGRATZ. KEEP THEM!

What did I say about that honesty of mine? I'm a nurse's aide son. I'm too "middle class" to bullshit anyone. That's why, for better or worse, I'm 100% real. I love it that way. It's not easy to find people who are the same, but rare occurrences should be cherished if not relished. It's truly worth it.

And moving onwards. But first, a look back. I still remember the feeling when I checked my grades and noticed that my World Literature professor had given me an F, which stood for; fuck your graduation Romane. Sayonara graduation. Another semester. Another delay in my life's plan. I'm not a huge fan of forgiving people, so there is a zero percent chance of me forgiving what he had done. And for some reason I carry this immense hatred for the college itself. Fuck BMCC.

How the hell did I go from Tony Montana, to fake friends, to college grades? I guess I'm just thinking out loud.

URBAN OUTFITTERS INTERVIEW PROCESS

I have to admit, it's an humiliating process. The interviewer rounds up a bunch of kids, four to seven per group, who are usually desperate for a job, and ask them the most generic and sometime ridiculous questions while they sit back and play Darwin. Here are some examples: 1). Why do you want to work for Urban Outfitters? Wow! So original. How should I answer this ass kissing question so I get hired? 2). Which celebrity is your fashion role model? What if I have my own style, do I fail on the "uniqueness" front by not copying a celebrity's style? 3). How often do you shop online? Ok! This is now officially a survey, not a job interview.

Most of the interviewees seem so desperate that I get the feeling they're willing to wash the interviewer's (usually the store manager) car for a week just to get hired.

The irony is; while the interviewer asks us to name sources where we get our latest fashion news, because being a "hipster" is the key to getting hired there, the popular fashion blogs we list are completely unknown or oblivious to the interviewer. So much for keeping up with the latest fashion trends.

It's mostly a survey (free, I might add) to see how they can make their business more "hip" and "fresh".

This is the classic example of why (most) people don't respect or understand what the hell a producer is, and what he/she does. This not only hurts (maybe a bit strong) aspiring producers but it also hurts power players when they're outside their circle.

This guy, Jason Brubaker, claims to be a "Hollywood based Independent Motion Picture Producer and an expert in internet movie distribution."

Nevermind the term he used - expert. That's for a different discussion.

The Academy recognizes a maximum of three individuals as a "PRODUCER" on an individual picture. And let's be completely honest; only one or two of those individuals actually deserve the credit! Jason takes it to the extreme. The pictures/films he claims to have "produced" have a minimum of SIX producers. Yep! You heard that right! SIX!!!!! One even has SEVEN!

This is purely for context reasons;

"The individual(s) who shall be credited for Academy Award purposes must have screen credit of “producer” or “produced by.” Persons with screen credits of executive producer, co-producer, associate producer, line producer, produced in association with or any other credit shall not receive nominations or Academy statuettes. The nominees will be those three or fewer producers who have performed the major portion of the producing functions."

I was taken back by this so I decided to ask him a couple questions.

Have any of the films you "produced" ever gotten any theatrical release?

Also, RATTLE BASKET, SIX PRODUCERS!!!!! Huh? Special dEaD has SEVEN!!!!!

Have you ever actually produced a picture? I mean six and seven producers on one (not even a theatrical release) picture doesn't say much for the individual.

VERY IMPORTANT: A film needs a maximum of three actual producers; NEVER EVER six and/or seven!

The best place to start is at the beginning. So first, let me define myself. Who am I? Romane Orlando Robb – filmmaker. More specifically: producer, director, and writer…. in that order. Why films? The bullshit cliché answer would be; because I love films! I also love food but I don’t want to be a certified chef. Do you get my point? Anyway, I chose filmmaking for two significant reasons. 1). I love to capture moments. It makes me believe in forever. 2). I’m a visual storyteller at heart. I’m the “let me show you” guy. And coincidentally, filmmaking satisfies both those reasons.

My journey in the film industry started when I was around 15-16 and bought a VHS camcorder off eBay for around $15.00. I would record everything in sight, with no care for editing, sound, and etc. It was fun. I was having fun. But as I got older, I wanted to make better projects, and use better equipment. This is where my t2i came into the picture. (No pun intended.) After I purchased my t2i, I thought it was going to be easy to get talented people to make great projects with. SUPER WRONG! I’ve joined and thoroughly searched numerous filmmaking forums, meetup groups, facebook groups, and etc, with little to no response. Either they’re out there and don’t want to collaborate with me, or they’re not serious about it. I mean, I would stay up until 6-7am (EVERYDAY!) sending emails, text messages, facebook messages, and etc to numerous people to little avail.

That’s when it hit me; WHEN NO ONE BELIEVES IN YOU, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF SOME MORE.

This is a collaborative industry, so I won’t stop “trying” to network. But I’m going to start being a bit more selective, instead of trying to network with everybody, which seems to be the norm.

P.S. If I’ve contacted you in the past in regards to networking and/or collaborating on a couple projects and you’ve never responded (or you gave some bullshit excuse), it would be a GREAT idea to not contact me now. I’m extremely paranoid, so naturally I saved all the names and messages of the people who never got back to me (or gave me bullshit excuses.)

To whom it may concern;

Most of the stuff I put on my blog is for other people in the same situation to use as inspiration in one way or another. This post is a bit more personal. This is a bit more specific.

I remember, not so long ago, when I would present people with opportunities for us to work on ROBB ENTERTAINMENT (robbent.com) projects which would be beneficial for all parties involved. And out of 100%, 99.9% of those people would turn me down and give bullshit reasons as to why. The other .1% that said yes are some of the same people I respect and admire working with today.

The irony is that; from the 99.9% who previously told me to “fuck off,” some of them are now contacting ME saying we should work together. This just blows my mind. Do they have Amnesia, or maybe Alzheimer's disease?

WHY THE HELL would I want to work with you now? You turned me down, remember?

Maybe this is the typical underdog revenge story, or maybe it’s something else. Whatever the case may be, I have something to say to the 99.9%; FUCK WAYYYYY OFFFF!

ROBBENT.COM: First, how many producers are attached?

FULL CICRLE: THREE.

Again, three people with titles, not ACTUAL producers.

I checked kickstarter and.....

ROBBENT.COM: The project says fully funded.

FULL CIRCLE: Yes that's just for kickstarter. That was the very basic initial amount to get started and was a realistic number to raise in 25 days.

The actual budget ended up being over $110,000.00

As expected, they do NOT have a distribution strategy, so basically another 1 in 10,000.

Distribution Strategy: We will be working with several sales agents to license the film internationally and domestically. Interest has already been made.

Splits will be 115% ROI for all investors and 50/50 splits on net profits.

We have a near shooting script that has been copyrighted by WGA and Library of Congress through Solvan Naim.

Did you see that? Several sales agents! Net profits! 115% ROI! Interested parties for a low budget no name cast and crew film? A sea of red flags.

But, there's more.....

ROBBENT.COM: That budget is not realistic. I don't think you understand the economic climate we're in. And also, you might want to avoid using the "net profit" term when approaching people who actually know this business. We both know net profits doesn't really exists due to "creative accounting." You stated the budget is over one hundred grand, but you want EXPERIENCED crew to work for food and credit? Which is mandatory by the way. I'm not really sure how copies of the work would be an incentive. What is really going on here? The major cost in a film is usually cast and crew, but you want the crew to work for free and do what with the proposed one hundred grand? ME as the Producer. I'm usually (in most cases) the first person on the picture. I come up with the idea, give the writer my notes, and look for a director. And casting and so on! If I didn't come up with the idea, and it's a picture I'm deeply interested in, I literally fight to be apart of it. I've optioned screenplays, short stories, etc, with the hopes of making something amazing out of them. In most cases, the option lapse, and I lose a bit financially.

But that's OK! I love doing this! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world right now!

Zanuck says "a producer, if he's doing his job, is the creative force. He doesn't tell the director how to direct but he hires the director, hires the writer and has picked the story. He's kind of the grand master of it all."

Most consumers fall into one of two categories: 1). Their purchasing decisions are based on what the mass public purchases. 2). Their purchasing decisions are based on which celebrity endorses it.

That’s very sad, right? Yep! Indeed. In high school, every kid owned a pair (or two, three, four, five.....) of Jordans (NKE). Why? Well, it had nothing to do with quality, but everything to do with branding. To own a pair of Jordans meant you were cool, even if it was just on the outside.

I always felt bad for those kids; my peers, and also myself for succumbing to such atrocious popularism. I started TUB in 2008 to be the flagship retailer for my two brands at the time, but also to be the anti-mass produced, anti-pop wear apparel and retail brand. And I’ll keep it that way as long as I’m in charge.

FILMMAKERS, ARE YOU MAD?

Most of you guys want to make films with absolutely no marketing and distribution (I call it MAD) strategy. That just boggles my mind to bits….and pieces. I just want to make a film; who cares who sees it right? Quite a few of you will actually say that, but we both know that’s complete and absolute bullshit. You want your film to be seen by a mass audience. You’ve worked incredibly hard putting in the work from development to pre-production to post-production.

You're competing in a marketplace with an abundance of content competing for an audience. These people don’t have an unlimited amount of time and/or money so here’s the dilemma; how do they choose from an unlimited supply (a new piece of content is created every second!) of content? They mostly choose the ones with the most awareness. The industry terminology is "tracking". Studios don’t spend hundreds of millions of dollars on marketing because it sounds “cool.” They do it to buy an audience (mostly the opening weekend). And as the cost of film equipment decreases, the volume of content increases. That's just economics 101. That’s also a very important sentence. You might want to write that down.....like RIGHT NOW!

And the multitudes of morons with the “quality rises to the top" statement/mentality are either very naive or plain foolish. You decide!

Update: I would highly suggest you take an internship (or two) at a film distribution company. I did mine at Filmdistrict (some of the most super awesome people in the business).

Q). When and why did you start TUB?

ROR: I started The Urban Blvd “TUB” on July 19, 2008. Why the importance of adding the specific date? I don’t know, I just have this thing where I’m very meticulous about dates. It’s very, very weird! I started TUB because I couldn’t get my brands – “Hustling Magician” and KGCC (Kreative Genius Clothing Company) at the time – in the stores I wanted. I’m talking about Reed Space, Boundless NY, Digital Gravel, Krudmart, Flatspot, etc. My solution to this dilemma was to create an e-store, stock a few of my friends’ upcoming brands in it (on consignment!), along side my brands (“house brands”), and market the heck out of it. That worked ok for a short while, but I had all these ideas that kept me up at night. My ideas ranged from a female accessories division, a gentlemen’s division, an eyewear division, sportswear, etc, etc. I slowly crafted various samples for each division to get feedback from friends and family…..and critiques. If the feedback was good, I would release it in limited quantities to avoid excessive inventory. And if the feedback was weak, then the obvious route would take effect. Apart from the credit card statements, both personal and business, I was just having fun with the company……and still am. Basically it was my creative outlet, and still is!

Q). Who was TUB’s first customer?

ROR: That’s easy! My mom; she has been supporting TUB since day one. She is now the second largest shareholder (the first is ROBB CORPORATION), so she’s ok.

Q). What’s your favorite brand under TUB?

ROR: I created them all so that’s an unfair question. I love them all.

Q). What do you love more, working on the apparel or the ad campaigns?

ROR: First, I call them art campaigns, not ad campaigns. And to answer your question, I LOVE the art campaigns because the idea of displaying a beautifully executed poster or banner for all to see is a very rewarding feeling. The continuous flow of ideas that I get for these campaigns are just remarkable, I just love it.

Q). What is your ultimate goal for TUB?

ROR: Great question! In the balance between art vs commerce, I want TUB to always lean towards art, first and foremost. So basically, I want TUB to be an art-house that occasionally makes apparel. An “apparel art-house” if you will. I started my first brands as a source of creative outlet, not a way to gain financial security, even though I’m a born capitalist (I “capitalize” on my other ventures). I never went to design/art school, and I barely know how to use illustrator or any other “fancy” design software. I’m the opposite of a fashion aficionado. Duh! Right? What I do know is; art is forever!

Very fucking stupid apparently. Here are a few excerpts from the back and forth emails.

"Greetings!

I have read more than a dozen different compliments about your team on the web and through e-mails shared by me with professionals from the industry."

Ok, cool! After that, I asked for the contact info, and I also asked him to send us a couple links to the compliments of these "industry professionals". It just gets more interesting after that.

"Hello,
I can't send any links because I did not store the the pages and only copied your contacts from them.
As to your website, I have visited them, but anyway thanks for forwarding me the address."

After this email, I knew something was up with this person, but I went along with it anyway, because I needed a blog post and this was too funny to pass up. He continues;

"It can be seen by re reading my last message that they were not persons but links, and the pages were not stored by me as I did not feel such a need to keep them for proofs for any reason. I am sure that anybody in my position would do the same. But, I fail to understand why it is of such principal importance."

He exchanged emails with links not the "industry professionals"? Makes sense? I thought so too, so I decided to call him out (confront his bullshit) with

"You know we figured you out right? Maybe you should've thought this through a bit? You mentioned "Industry professionals", maybe you should've included their contact info in the very FIRST email?"

and then this happens:

"Do not try to take a holier-than-thou-attitude after insulting comments. If I forward these e-mails to anybody, they will see the written words and find out about your professional behavior and how you been insulting right from the start. I had actually written only good about your company."

Too bad I beat you to it champ.

"You're the one sending around emails about references without the actual references". - This shows how judgmental you are. How do you know I don't have any references? Are you an astrologer or God? If your communcation was clear you would have got the refernmces in my 2nd reply.

"Stop wasting my valuable time."

He emailed me by the way. So he was wasting my time. A common mistake. It happens.
